Meet the team
Umina Beach Book Nook is owned by local author and business entrepreneur Kate Toon. She’s on a mission to make the store a warm, welcoming space for all book loving humans. Her amazing team – Olivia, Grace, Cara and her son Orion, are on hand to help and to make great personal recommendations.
Special orders
We specialise in tracking down and ordering hard to find titles and obscure books. Pop in store to ask.
The Book Club
Ugh don’t you hate stuffy book clubs?
The Cosy Book Club is different.
It’s a warm, inclusive, diverse group of humans getting together to discuss a mutual love of books.
We jointly agree which book we’ll read each month.
We allow plenty of time to read the book.
There’s no ongoing commitment.
Testimonials
This is a gem on The Peninsula. I always find this store so helpful when looking for new books to read and also just having a chat about books I have read. Great range to choose from. I usually go in with wanting to buy one book but come out with more!
Umina’s cute and cozy bookshop. The owner and staff are super nice and really care about their books and customers. It’s the kind of spot where you instantly feel at home. Definitely on my list to visit often for a cozy read or to find a gift when I am in town.
The most beautiful and welcoming spot on the coast, so grateful for this little bookstore transporting me right back home to England whenever I enter. A place to make friends with books and people, love.

Book Review: Dream Count by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
After her 3 critically acclaimed earlier novels: Purple Hibiscus, Half a Yellow Sun and Americanah, I started Dream Count, her first published novel in a dozen or so years, full on anticipation. It does not disappoint. I found Dream Count ambitious, powerful,...
