Meet the team

Umina Beach Book Nook is owned by local author and business entrepreneur Kate Toon. She’s on a mission to make the store a warm, welcoming space for all book loving humans. Her amazing team – Jules, Michaela, Hadil and her son Orion, are on hand to help and to make great personal recommendations.

Special orders

We specialise in tracking down and ordering hard to find titles and obscure books. Pop in store to ask.

The Book Club

Our book club, run by the amazing Jules Chessman, has been going for 16 years and now has 70 members.

We choose four major prize winners to review, the Stella, the Pulitzer, The Mann Booker and The Miles Franklin.

We also choose non-fiction, a biography, contemporary fiction, and a classic works as well as anything that takes our fancy from popular opinion or publisher recommendations.

Testimonials

Umina’s cute and cozy bookshop. The owner and staff are super nice and really care about their books and customers. It’s the kind of spot where you instantly feel at home. Definitely on my list to visit often for a cozy read or to find a gift when I am in town.

Natasha Sutton

The most beautiful and welcoming spot on the coast, so grateful for this little bookstore transporting me right back home to England whenever I enter. A place to make friends with books and people, love.
